SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. - There is a unique market in Saint Petersburg that is open once a month. The trinkets inside are gateways to the past.
Go back in time at Brocante Market where you can discover old artifacts that range from furniture to old appliances.
"Its a French word for for second hand goods or second hand market, said Owner Sean Carter -- as we toured the place in it's pristine pre-opening quiet-ness. "People want to put the "e" on there but it is silent... it's 'Bro-cant.'"
Carter has been opening up this warehouse at 2200 2nd Avenue South in St. Pete for once a month -- on the first Saturday and Sunday -- since August of last year, to cater to the collector in all of us with stuff that simply has to be seen to be believed.
"You know the wow factor I think comes from the fact that we completely break it down and we rebuild it every month," he said. "It's completely different -- it creates that sense of urgency that event environment and people seem to really like it."
Thousands of vintage treasures wait to be discovered coming from several different vendors. Most are industrial salvaged, reclaimed mid-century items.
Doors open at 9 a.m. on Saturday and close at 7 p.m. Sunday open 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
The dates for the rest of the year are this weekend, April 5th and 6th, May 3rd and 4th, June 7th and 8th, July 5th and 6th, August 2nd and 3rd, September 6th and 7th, October 4th and 5th, November 1st and 2nd and December 6th and 7th.
The market is located at 2200 2nd Avenue South, St. Petersburg... right across the street from 3 Daughters Brewing (home of Weekend Adventure Wheat Ale). Make a day of it!
