UPDATE (3:36 p.m.): 

Polk County officials canceled the Silver Alert for 84-year-old Richard A. Hippensteel of Haines City at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Hippensteel was found  at a rest stop in St. Johns County, where he stopped his car when it ran out of gas, according to St. Johns County Deputies. 

Polk officials state Hippensteel is in good health and are making arrangements to have him returned safely to Polk County. 

PREVIOUSLY REPORTED: 

Polk County officials are asking for the public's assistance n locating 84-year-old Richard Hippensteel, who went missing from Haines City early Friday morning. 

The sheriff's office report says Hippensteel left his home on Windy Hill Rd. around 9 a.m. in a white Kia Sorento SUV. The license plate should have a handicap tag. 

DESCRIPTION

  • 6 feet tall, 210 lbs.
  • Grey hair, goatee, brown eyes

The report said Hippensteel has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
