Man on stolen motorcycle killed in early morning crash

LAKELAND - Lakeland traffic homicide detectives are still investigating a fatal crash that happened just after 2 a.m. Saturday.

According to officials a man on a stolen motorcycle drove into the intersection of Line Street and South Florida Avenue and collided with a Jeep Cherokee.

The driver died at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep, Peter Nelson, was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives discovered the bike had been stolen from someone in Kissimmee back in December of last year.

All traffic detours have been removed and all traffic patterns should be back to normal.

The crash is still under investigation.
