VA misses deadline to supply records to Congress

Documents about firing not submitted

On Tuesday, the ABC Action News I-Team reported an area congressman has demanded answers from the VA concerning a man who says he was fired for speaking out.
Congressman David Jolly and other members of Congress asked the VA for the personnel file of local whistle blower Javier Soto, who worked at Bay Pines in St. Petersburg.
Soto says he was fired because he brought attention to problems at the VA, which the VA denies.

MORE: Congress members demand documents

The Congressional committee gave the VA until July 22 to produce Soto's personnel file, but as of Wednesday afternoon, the committee had not received the documents related to Soto's termination.

Local Congressman David Jolly said that's going to be a big problem for the VA when the committee holds another hearing on Thursday.
