Getting to know Hands Across the Bay DWTS contestant John Neglio with "10 questions"

TAMPA - Are you ever curious about the real lives of politicians, celebrities, local newsmakers and athletes?
Each Tuesday, ABC Action News asks 10 questions of a Bay area leader, politician or even national celebrity.

We go beyond the questions that are news of the day. After all sometimes, we want know more about them. What's their favorite music? Greatest success? And who do they look up to?
For the next several weeks, I am honored to profile my fellow dancers taking part in Julie Weintraub's Hands Across the Bay Dancing with the Stars local extravaganza.
I am honored to take part in this event which is one of the most popular in the Bay area.
In it's sixth year-the fourth with Hands Across the Bay, the event proceeds benefit local charities and individuals who need help.
This week we are hearing from John "Johnny" Neglio.  Those in the auto industry hail him as one of the "better known" car guys in the Bay Area! He's been in the business for decades.

Back in 1981, John started with Ferman Automotive and soon earned "Salesman of the Year."  It was just the beginning of a very successful career, a few years later he was the General Sales Manager of his dealership.

Soon after, John decided to move to the wholesale side of the business, where he is still works today. In 1989, he joined Frank Morsani's team at Precision Automotive as head wholesale buyer and he remained through the 2004 acquisition by the Morgan Auto Group as head of their wholesale division. John is coming up on 25 years within the same organization.

He's originally from New York, born in Manhattan. He grew up in Fairfield, Connecticut where he spent and attended school at Western Connecticut State University.

John's been married to his wife  Deborah for 21 years and they have five children.  

He is very active in the community, including several coaching commitments. John has also dedicated his time to Shriners Hospital and the Wounded Warriors program.

He said one of the highlights in his life was singing the National Anthem before a Tampa Bay Lightning Game!

John said he is ready to dance at this years event, despite undergoing a Bi-Lateral knee replacement last year!

We know he will be a star! He certainly has a lot of fans. John leads all the dancers in the number of votes!

 Lead singer in a band.
Fred Astaire Dance Studio in North Tampa donated all my lessons as well as the lessons for the other fellow dancers.

My dance instructor, Chris Carr is the best teacher! He is so patient with me and my two left feet:)

Other locations of the Fred Astaire franchises are donating services to the other dancers.
Dancing has become an extremely popular work out and activity following the hit ABC series, DANCING WITH THE STARS.
