The Sumter County Sheriff's Office has named the most recent addition to their K9 corps 'Dallas' as a gesture of solidarity with those affected by the recent tragedy in the heart of Texas.

The naming process for the new puppy was open to public submission, and the department announced their decision Thursday.

Dallas, an 11-week-old bloodhound, will join two other bloodhounds on the force, Albert and Libby. In a release, the department said Dallas will undergo "extensive training" over the next year to learn things like tracking and detecting scents.
