The driver who side-swiped a Largo police cruiser last week has turned himself in.

The Largo Police Department said nobody was injured, but the black Infinity Ex crossover blew by the cruiser while the officer was stopped to help a disabled vehicle on the side of the road.

The crash was just after 10 p.m. April 30 on US 19 near Roosevelt road. The officer had his emergency lights on.

The driver, 45-year-old Louis Fontana, faces a misdemeanor charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving damage.

A police release said Fontana showed remorse and apologized at the station. The report said he may have been drinking. Louis reportedly told police he panicked and kept driving.
