Donating to Tampa Bay Area families in need of food and Christmas season supplies is getting even easier thanks to the help of some local companies that will do much of the work for you.

Metro Ministries is collecting clothes and toys and more for their annual Holiday Tent, a major Christmas season event that helps thousands of local families every year.

This year the Tampa-based charity is teaming up with a local, app-based company called Trucks on Demand that will come and collect boxes of donated goods for you. Companies like the Berkshire Hathaway properties group in Clearwater is among the corporate companies using the Trucks on Demand to deliver their donated gifts to Metro Ministries.

By having an affordable and convenient delivery service through the holiday season, Metro Ministries is hoping to make it easier for people to donate this holiday season.

A record number of families were helped by their Holiday Tent last year. The faith-based non-profit says they expect to help about 18,000 Tampa Bay Area families this season.

The holiday tent is going to be at a new location this year. Instead of being off Highland Avenue near Waterworks Park in Tampa Heights, as it has for years, the new location is being provided by the Tampa Housing Authority’s "Encore" project along Central Avenue in downtown Tampa.

Donations can also be dropped off at the Tampa tent which is already open and will stay open through December.
