A Florida bobcat injured by a car in Temple Terrace and rescued Thanksgiving Day died following surgery Wednesday.

Veterinarian Justin Boorstein conducted the procedure to repair the bobcat's broken pelvis, broken hip and broken humerus near his shoulder.

Unfortunately, the bobcat died as it was coming out of anesthesia.

Big Cat Rescue received a call Thursday, Nov. 24, about a report of a wild bobcat had been hit on Temple Terrace Highway.

Big Cat Rescue workers captured the severely wounded, but still feisty 2-year-old male bobcat.

He was named Chief Spotted Eye because of three unusual sunspots on his eye.

Chief's breathing was shallow and raspy when he was rescued, but the bobcat's lungs healed on their own enough to allow the surgery to take place.

Surgery took three hours to complete.
