SEMINOLE, Fla. - A Pinellas County nonprofit that provides new or gently-used prom dresses and accessories to underprivileged girls still needs donations.
The Belle of the Ball Project is in its eleventh year. Executive director Susan Schwartz said the charity is looking for donations of dress shoes, small purses, jewelry and plus-sized dresses.
Schwartz said there has been an uptick in donations since ABC Action News aired a story about the project in February. She enjoys seeing the effect having a nice dress for prom has on the girls and their families.
"It's just very nice to see the smiles on their faces and know that they are going to look as good as their peers," Schwartz said.
There are four days during the next few months when families can come fill out a form at the Belle of the Ball store inside the Seminole Mall. The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 15, April 5, April 19 and May 3.
