TAMPA - Here are five things you need to know happening in Florida on Thursday, October 11.

(1) President Obama campaigns in Florida

President Obama will attend a campaign event in South Florida on Thursday.

Mr. Obama will deliver remarks at a grassroots event at the BankUnited Center at the University of Miami in Coral Gables.

The President is expected to discuss his vision for an economy that grows from the middle out and describe his detailed plans for restoring middle-class economic security by creating jobs and expanding opportunity.

Following the event at the BankUnited Center, the President will deliver remarks at a fundraising reception in Miami.

The campaign event at the University of Miami is scheduled to begin at 3:25 p.m.

(2) Vice presidential debate

Vice President Joe Biden and Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan will square off in Danville, Kentucky on Thursday night in their only debate.

Tonight's 90-minute debate will focus on both foreign and domestic topics . It will be divided into nine segments of approximately 10 minutes each.

Moderator Martha Raddatz, reporter for ABC's World News, will ask an opening question. Each candidate will then have two minutes to respond. Raddatz will use the balance of the time in the segment for a discussion of the question.

Both the Romney and Obama campaigns are holding watch parties tonight in the Tampa Bay area.

Romney's official watch party is at the Quaker Steak and Lube at 10400 49th Street North in Clearwater.

(3) United Way Day of Caring

United Way Suncoast celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Day of Caring on Thursday.

More than 2,300 volunteers from over 100 companies will come together today to work on nearly 200 projects in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Sarasota counties. The projects help local social service agencies in need.

Among the projects undertaken today:

In Hillsborough County, UnitedWay Bridges and Women's Leadership Council volunteers will help people in need of employment at the Sulphur Springs Resource Center. Volunteers will review résumés, conduct mock interviews and assist in the selection of appropriate business attire from donated clothing.

In Pinellas County, City of Clearwater employees will work at the Willa Carson Health Resource Center. They will paint, clean and repair the building, and do landscaping.

In Sarasota County, Northern Trust volunteers will help with painting, landscaping and cleaning of The Salvation Army location on 10th Street in Sarasota.

(4) Orlando Magic first home preseason game

The Orlando Magic will open host their first preseason game of the 2012-13 season at the Amway Center on Thursday.

The Magic began their preseason schedule on October 7 against the New Orleans Hornets in Mexico City, Mexico. The team will play a total of eight preseason games, including four at the Amway Center.

Tonight's home game is the first since All-Star Dwight Howard was traded and head coach Stan Van Gundy was fired.

Currently, the Magic have 19 players on their roster:

(5) A Taste of Clearwater

The 23rd annual A Taste of Clearwater is being held on Thursday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Ruth Eckerd Hall.

The event features over 25 area restaurants, local businesses and community partners.

"A Taste of Clearwater is a local tradition that pays homage to area restaurants and gives the community the opportunity to try local cuisine," said Bob Clifford, President and CEO of Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The auditorium hosts the "Clearwater Cook-Off Challenge." The live cooking competition features chefs from four area restaurants who will battle head-to-head for bragging rights.
