TAMPA - Here are five things you need to know happening in Florida on Thursday, May 8, 2014.

(1) Chelsea Richard funeral

The funeral of Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Chelsea Richard will be held in Ocala on Thursday.

Richard died Saturday when she and two other men were struck by a pickup truck as they stood on the shoulder of Interstate 75 in Marion County. At the time Trooper Richard was investigating another accident that occurred in that same spot a little earlier in the day.

Richard and tow truck driver John Duggan died instantly in the crash. The third victim, George Phillips, died on Sunday. The accident remains under investigation.

Richard leaves behind a 4-year-old son.

Governor Rick Scott is ordering all United States and State of Florida flags to be flown at half-staff in Marion County and at all Florida Highway Patrol facilities on Thursday to honor Richard.

The funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Ocala. Motorists are advised traffic will be delayed in and around the church between 12:30 and 5:00 p.m.

(2) Keller Williams RED Day

Employees with Keller Williams Realty in St. Petersburg are taking the day off from work on Thursday to participate in the company's national community service day, RED Day.

Keller Williams is partnering with Habitat for Humanity for the 2nd straight year. Employees will help with the construction of seven single-family homes in Pinellas County.

"We believe in supporting the community where we live and work," Team Leader Rachel Sartain says. "It's our way of saying thanks to our friends, neighbors, clients and community."

Keller Williams, Habitat for Humanity, Vandyk Mortgage, TampaBay Title and Stevens Van Lines are working together up to make a successful Red Day.

(3) Free prom makeovers

Remington College's Tampa Campus is offering complimentary salon services for Tampa Bay area high school students heading to proms beginning on Thursday.

The Prom Night Makeover event is to help out those students who cannot afford the cost of a trip to the salon.

Staff and students in the Remington College Cosmetology Program are offering complimentary services for girls including haircuts, manicures, pedicures and makeup. Guys can receive a free haircut.

The free makeovers will be offered today, Friday and Saturday.

The Salon will be open today from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Appointments are recommended and can be made by calling (813) 316-4470. The college's Tampa campus is located at 6302 East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

(4) MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition final day

Thursday is the final day for the MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa.

The exhibit features hand-on, interactive exhibits to uncover the truths behind popular myths using scientific method and MythBuster ingenuity.

The exhibition showcases a Blueprint Room which serves as an introduction to MythBusting, a Workshop where guests use real science to test myths, and a Live Demonstration Stage where you can participate in live science demonstrations with a team of energetic MythBusting facilitators.

Tickets are $24.95 for adults, $21.95 for seniors and $19.95 for children 2 to 12. The price includes admission to either MOSI's permanent exhibits or a documentary IMAX film.

(5) 2014 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Draft Party

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are hosting a 2014 NFL Draft Party at Raymond James Stadium on Thursday night.

The party is free and open to the public. It will allow Buccaneers fans the chance to gather together to watch the draft's first round.

Free public parking will be provide in lots south of the stadium. The lots will open at 4:30 p.m. Fans are asked to enter through Gate C. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m.

During the party fans can enjoy discounted food and beverages, a live reveal of the selections for the 2014 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders, and the chance to purchase all-new Buccaneers merchandise.

Buccaneers Season Pass Members will receive extra benefits at the party including early access, complimentary food and beverages, access to both the Pirate Ship and the field, and special member seating.
