TAMPA - Here are five things you need to know happening in Florida on Monday, July 14, 2014.

(1) SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch

SpaceX is scheduled to launch a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on Monday.

The rocket will carry six second-generation ORBCOMM OG2 communications satellites into low-Earth orbit. The satellites will help ORBCOMM's customers track ships, weather buoys, trucks, cargo containers and more.

The launch has been delayed several times. Originally scheduled for liftoff in May, SpaceX encountered a helium leak which forced a month-long delay.

Lightning near Cape Canaveral forced a planned launch on June 21, while a problem with the rocket's second stage caused a postponement the next day.

Liftoff is scheduled for 9:21 a.m. from Launch Complex 40. The launch window extends to 11:54 a.m.

SpaceX will broadcast a live webcast of the launch beginning at 9:05 a.m. at www.spacex.com/webcast/ .

(2) Sarasota Tweet from the Beat

The Sarasota Police Department will take you on another virtual ride-along on Monday night.

During the 'Tweet from the Beat' event, Officer Jon Vanik and other officers will share what they see and do through texts, videos and photos tweets from theirs beat.

People following @SarasotaPD on Twitter will be able to ask questions and interact with the officers while they are out on patrol.

Tonight's Tweet from the Beat will last from 6:30 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

(3) Governor Scott in Largo

Governor Rick Scott is scheduled to hold an event in Largo with Florida veterans and veteran activists on Monday.

The event could be considered a campaign event as the Governor looks towards winning next month's Republican gubernatorial primary.

Governor Scott is scheduled to speak with the veterans at the Armed Forces Military Museum at 10:00 a.m.

The museum is located at 2050 34th Way N in Largo.

(4) The Palladium closes for renovations

The Palladium in St. Petersburg will be closed starting on Monday for renovations.

Work is scheduled to begin today and continue through July 31. There will be no shows at the Palladium while renovation work is going on.

No walk-up ticket purchases can be made while the theater is closed. You will still be able to purchase tickets online at www.mypalladium,org .

Ticket can also bought by phone by calling the box office at (727) 822-3590 and leaving a detailed message including your phone number. Your call will be returned.

The Palladium is scheduled to reopen on Friday, August 1.

(5) Lionel Richie in concert

Pop music superstar Lionel Richie will brings his All the Hits All Night Long Tour to the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds on Monday night.

Richie has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide. He has won an Oscar, 5 Grammy Awards and 16 American Music Awards.

Among Richie's hit songs are 1981's Endless Love, 1982's Truly, 1983's All Night Long (All Night), 1984's Hello, and 1985's Say You, Say Me.

Joining Richie in concert tonight will be pop soul singer CeeLo Green.
