The City of St. Petersburg is hosting a public forum on Monday to gather input on proposed renovations to be made at the Lake Vista Recreation Center.
The plans call for a 4,000 square feet addition for new program space, a kitchen area, a new sprinkler system, new windows and upgrades to the building's interiors.
The project is being paid for by Penny for Pinellas funds. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2013.
The public forum starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Lake Vista Recreation Center at 1401 62nd Avenue Street in St. Petersburg.
(4) Fishing seasons open
On Monday, several species of fish will be back on the fish recreational fishermen will be allowed to catch in state water.
In the Atlantic Ocean, anglers will be allowed to catch vermilion snapper that are 12 inches total length or longer. Fishermen will be allowed to catch up to five fish per day through October 31.
Red, black, yellowfin, yellowmouth, rock hind, red hind and scamp grouper will be allowed to be caught in the Gulf of Mexico through January 31.
State waters in the Atlantic Ocean are from shore to three nautical miles out, while in the Gulf they are from shore to nine miles out.
Harvesting in Monroe County waters are currently closed to harvest through April 30.
Gulf of Mexico gag grouper will open to harvest April 1 in state waters in Franklin, Wakulla, Jefferson and Taylor counties. Gag grouper will be open to recreational harvest in the rest of Gulf state waters (not including Monroe, Franklin, Wakulla, Jefferson and Taylor) from July 1 through December 3.
