TAMPA - Here are five things you need to know happening in Florida on Friday, May 3.
(1) USF Graduation
Thousands of University of South Florida students will say adieu to college starting on Friday.
The first of five USF graduation ceremonies occurs at the USF Sun Dome this afternoon.
At 1:30 p.m. the USF School of Social Sciences will hold its graduation ceremony for undergraduates. This ceremony will be for students majoring in Africana Studies, Anthropology, Economics, Geography, Environment & Planning, Government & International Affairs, Library & Information Sciences, Mass Communications, Psychology, Sociology and Women & Gender Studies.
At 6:00 p.m. the USF School of Humanities and USF School of Natural Sciences & Mathematics only will hold their graduation ceremonies for undergraduates. This ceremony will be for students majoring in Communication, English, History, Humanities and Cultural Studies, Philosophy, Religious Studies and World Languages.
Each ceremony will last approximately 90 minutes. No tickets are required to attend.
The graduation ceremonies for undergraduate students majoring in other degrees and all Masters or Doctoral candidates will be held on Saturday.
The inaugural Funshine Music Festival opens at the Florida State Fairgrounds on Friday.
The three-day festival will feature more than 30 acts on six stages and more than 60 state-of-the-art thrill rides and attractions.
Today's concert schedule is as follows:
6:55 p.m. - Roadkill Ghost Choir
8:35 p.m. - Good Old War
7:45 p.m. - Dead Confederate
9:55 p.m. - Youngblood Hawke
Expo Hall Stage
6:40 p.m. - Cheap Trick
8:35 p.m. - The Smashing Pumpkins
7:30 p.m. - Phillip Phillips
9:35 p.m. - Train
Rides include a 100-foot-tall Ferris Wheel that holds six people per pod; the RC-48 Rollercoaster, the largest and fastest movable steel roller coaster in the United States; a White Water Flume Ride; 135-foot-tall drop tower; and the Orbiter, a G-Force spin ride.
Single day general admission tickets are $30.00. A 3-day admission pass is $65. Kids ages 6-11 are $15 a day. Children 5 and under are free. General parking will be $10 per car.
