TAMPA - Here are five things you need to know happening in Florida on Friday, July 26.

(1) Castle brothers sentencing hearing

Two teenage brothers convicted of killing a third teen earlier this year will be sentenced on Friday.

Last month a jury found 18-year-old Bailey Castler and 19-year-old Roger Castle III guilty of manslaughter, theft and possession.

Prosecutors originally charged the brothers with first degree murder and robbery for dragging 18-year-old Christopher Daniels with their pickup truck during a drug deal gone bad.

Each brother is facing up to fifteen years in prison. The sentencing hearing is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Hillsborough County Courthouse in downtown Tampa.

(2) Pasco County recognizes gold medal winner

Pasco County will honor Mike Ferrantelli with a sign unveiling on Friday.

Ferrantelli, a captain with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office Court Services Bureau, has been with the Sheriff's Office for 28 years.

He won a gold medal at the 2013 Master Bench Press World Championship by lifting 578.8 pounds. The event was held in April in Prague, Czech Republic.

The sign will read "Welcome to Pasco County home of Mike Ferrantelli IPF Bench Press World Champion." It will be placed at the Pasco/Pinellas County border on northbound US 19 in front of Northern Tools.

The unveiling ceremony will occur at 9:30 a.m.

(3) Christmas in July toy donation event

St. Joseph's Children's Hospital is holding a "Christmas in July" toy donation on Friday.

The hospital is collecting monetary donations and new, unwrapped toys. The items will be used to comfort hospitalized kids throughout the year.

St. Joseph's would appreciate donations of gift cards, electronics, kid-friendly movies, puzzles, arts and crafts supplies, bubbles, infant toys, crib mobiles, teen games and magazines.

You can drop off items in the circular drive in front of the hospital from today 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

(4) Speed dating pet adoption event

The Humane Society of Pinellas is holding a speed dating adoption event on Friday to match pets with potential owners.

The event will allow people to check out pets at the shelter in a string of one-on-one interactive sessions.

Humane Society employees and volunteers will be on hand to introduce the animals, answer any questions, and help match your family's needs and interests with each pet's personality traits.

The speed dating adoption event occurs from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. All pet adoption fees will be 50% today through Sunday.

(5) Metrocon

Florida's largest animation convention, Metrocon, opens on Friday at the Tampa Convention Center.

Over 5,000 people are expected to attend the event over the next three days. Metrocon covers all Japanese animation shows (known as anime) and anything influenced by the genre.

The event features a dealer's room, an anime human chess match, video games, movie and TV show screenings, a Fantasy Masquerade, and much more.
