TAMPA - Here are five things you need to know happening in Florida on Friday, February 8.

(1) Habitat for Humanity Pinellas Blitz Build

Nearly 500 Habitat for Humanity volunteers will start a seven-day, two-house Blitz Build in Clearwater on Friday.

The volunteers will finish constructing two homes for two low-income families during Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County's fifth annual "Blitz Build" event.

The homes are being built for two families, Tammie Carriger and her daughter, and Melissa McComish and her daughter. Both homeowners will work side-by-side with the volunteers during the Blitz Build.

Both homes are being built in the Stevens Creek subdivision in Clearwater.

Home dedication ceremonies will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 17.

(2) Free Dentistry Day

Two Bay Area dentist offices are offering free dentistry services on Friday.

The first 200 adults in line at Grand Dentistry in New Port Richey will have the opportunity to receive a free cleaning, extraction or filling. Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Monticciolo Family & Sedation Dentistry in Tampa will host their 12th annual Dentistry from the Heart event on Friday.

Event registration opens at 7:00 a.m. at the office located at 8327 West Hillsborough Avenue.

Patients are encouraged to come early and will be seen on a first come, first served basis. Free dental services will be offered to patients 18+ and include the choice of one filling, cleaning or extraction per patient.

(3) Pinellas Park WaWa store opens

The Bay Area WaWa stores opens in Pinellas Park on Friday.

A special grand opening celebration will be held at the store today.

At approximately 9:00 a.m. members from the Pinellas Park Fire Department will take on Pinellas Park police officers in a hoagie making contest. The winner be be given $1,000 to donate to their favorite charity.

The Pinellas Park location is the first of two WaWa stores being constructed in Pinellas Park. A total of five WaWa stores are scheduled to open up across the Bay Area over the next five weeks.

(4) Florida State Fair Student Day

Friday is Student Day at the 2013 Florida State Fair. All Hillsborough County students will receive a free ticket to the fair today.

Today is also Pepsi Armband Day. If you bring an empty Diet Mountain Dew can to the Fair ticket office, you can save $5 off the regular price of a Midway ride armband.

The fair is celebrating Florida's 500th anniversary of the arrival of Ponce de Leon on the east coast of Florida with a special Tampa Bay History Center curated exhibit this year.

Admission prices today are $10 for adults age 12 and over and $5 for children age 6 to 11. Children under 6 are free with an adult.

(5) National Girl Scout Cookie Day

Friday is the first annual National Girl Scout Cookie Day.

In honor of the day the Girl Scouts is offering a one-day photo contest on their cookie program Facebook page.

Submit a picture of your favorite Girl Scout cookie along with a creative caption explaining why you want to buy one more box on www.facebook.com/GirlScoutCookieProgram . You can also enter on Twitter or Pinterest by adding the hashtag #onemorebox to your caption.

Thirty randomly drawn entrants will win a pair of Cookie Milk Glasses and other fun freebies. One person will win the grand prize: one box of all 16 varieties of Girl Scout cookies being sold this year.

Girl Scouts will begin to deliver pre-order boxes of Girl Scout cookies starting on February 14.

From February 22 to March 17 Girl Scout cookie booths will be set up throughout west central Florida (Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Marion, Pasco, Polk, Pinellas and Sumter Counties).
