TAMPA - Here are five things you need to know happening in Florida on Friday, August 1, 2014.

(1) 2014 Florida back-to-school sales tax holiday begins

The 2014 Florida back-to-school sales tax holiday started at 12:01 a.m. on Friday morning. All exempt items will be tax free until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 3.

The sales tax exemption is for clothing, footwear and accessories selling for $100 or less per item; certain school supplies selling for $15 or less per item; and for personal computers and certain computer-related accessories on the first $750 of the sales prices when purchased for non-commercial home or personal use.

(2) Remington College Tampa offers back-to-school haircuts

Remington College wants your children to look their best when they go back to school.

During the 6th annual Cuts for Kids, the College's Tampa Campus will offer complimentary haircuts starting on Friday for children ages 17 and under. The free offer runs through August 31.

The haircuts will be given by instructors and students in the Remington College-Tampa Campus' cosmetology program.

During Cuts for Kids, Remington College will also be collecting school supplies. Anyone who brings in a donation can get a free haircut, manicure or pedicure for themselves. All school supplies collected will go to local schools.

The salon hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Mondays to Thursdays, Fridays at 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Salon at Remington is located at 6302 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Suite 400 in Tampa.

(3) Boyhood opens at the Tampa Theatre

A unique film experience opens at the Tampa Theatre on Friday.

Richard Linklater's Boyhood tells the story of an ordinary American boy. What makes the movie different is it was filmed between 2002 and 2013 with the same cast.

Boyhood follows Mason (Ellar Coltrane) as he grows from a 6-year-old boy into a man.

You will see Mason enjoy road trips, family dinners, birthdays and graduations - all highly relatable events in any child's life. The darker side of life including marital squabbles and teenagers acting out are also shown.

The R-rated film stars Ethan Hawke (Reality Bites, Before Midnight) and Patricia Arquette (True Romance) as Mason's parents.

Tickets are $11 for adults and $9 for children, seniors, military and Tampa Theatre Members.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday; 1:00, 4:30 and 8:15 p.m. on Saturday; 6:30 p.m. on Sunday; and 7:30 p.m. Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 8.

(4) Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2014 Night Practice

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will hold their annual Night Practice at Raymond James Stadium on Friday night. This is the sixth consecutive year the Bucs will hold a night practice at the stadium.

Raymond James Stadium parking lots will open at 3:30 p.m.

Autograph vouchers will be distributed out on a first-come, first-served basis at the stadium box office beginning at 4:00 p.m. Vouchers are required for player autographs. The autograph session begins at 5:15 p.m.

The players will begin the night practice at 7:30 p.m. The practice will conclude with a fireworks show at 9:45 p.m.

The Buccaneers open their preseason schedule on Friday, August 8.

(5) Tampa Bay Comic-Con begins

The Tampa Bay Comic-Con opens on Friday at the Tampa Bay Convention Center.

There will be 400,000 square feet of comic books, toys, action figures, anime, artwork, trading cards, video games and more. Approximately 30,000 fans are expected to attend the convention through Sunday.

There will be dozens of professional artists on hand, including guest creators Jim Sternako (X-Men, Captain America), Mike Zeck (The Punisher, Marvel Super Hero Secret Wars) and Marv Wolfman (New Teen Titans, Crisis on Infinite Earths).

Celebrity guests include Richard Maddon (Game of Thrones), Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones), John Rhys-Davis (Lord of the Rings), Evan Peters (American Horror Story), Caity Lotz (Arrow), Brighton Sharbino (The Walking Dead), Kyla Kenedy (The Walking Dead), Daniel Cudmore (X-Men Days of Future Past).
