5 things to know for Saturday, January 4

TAMPA BAY - 1. Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey circus is in town this weekend. They are performing at the Tampa Bay Times Forum with three show times happening today at 11 a.m.. 3 p.m., and 7 p.m. If you arrive early you can visit with the circus animals. Visit their website to learn more.

2. As if anyone needs an excuse to dress up their dogs, Barkarilla is taking place in Ybor. The 4th annual pup parade kicks off at 2:30 p.m. on the patio at the Dirty Shame.

3. If you are a history buff than you will love this! The annual reenactment of the battle that started the second Seminole War kicks off today. The war started in 1835 when Native American warriors ambushed more than one hundred U.S. Soldiers. The battle begins at the Dade Battlefield Historical State Park in Bushnell from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

4. This is the last weekend to enjoy the ice skating rink at Curtis Hixon park in Tampa. The rink is open at 10 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. Tickets cost $10 per person and includes skates.

5. It's playoff season for the NFL! That means football happens on not only Sunday, but Saturday too! The NFL wild card weekend kicks off with Kansas City taking on the Colts in Indianapolis at 4:35. Later the Saints take on the Eagles in Phillie at 8:10 p.m.
