"Hootie & the Blowfish" have some exciting news to share. The 90's band famous for songs like "Time" and
"Hold my hand" is reuniting for a concert in St. Petersburg to celebrate the launch of their custom craft beer, "Hootie's Homegrown Ale," at multiple retailers in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

The band is famous for releasing one of the best-selling albums in history (Cracked Rear View, 1994) and now they're testing their success in the beer world with the help of Rock Brothers Brewing in Tampa.

The craft beer has been available in draft form for the past 18-months, but now the band is celebrating the release of 12-ounce cans of the brew on your local store shelves.

“Getting Hootie’s beer on store grocery store shelves is a huge step for the evolution of our company,” said Kevin Lilly, co-founder of Rock Brothers Brewing. “Having a retail giant like Publix embrace this brand shows the quality of our product and the interest in our band beer program.”

Tickets to Friday night's concert at the Mahaffey Theater are not for sale. The brewing company wanted to make the show extra special so they turned it into a sweepstakes. The only way you can "hold Hootie's beer" and sing along with the band is if you won tickets through the online contest.

Action News Digital Content Producer, Kelly Bazzle, will be sharing live updates from the show on our Facebook page on Friday night. Be sure to LIKE our page so you can see some behind the scenes moments of the show.

“This is a special opportunity to showcase the band’s beer and revisit the great songs that touched so many people,” explained Mark Zenow of Cord Management, the firm that handles artist relations for Rock Brothers Brewing.
