TAMPA - Hillsborough County deputies arrested a man for the murder of Akime Casey, found Monday night.
Akime Casey, 23, was found shot to death around 9:22 p.m. Monday outside a home at 7802 River Resort Lane in northeast Tampa.
Deputies said Casey, defendant Nathaniel O'Neal, and three witnesses were hanging out at an apartment located at 4802 Sims Inlet Road in Tampa.
All five individuals were socializing when Casey asked about the relationship between O'Neal and one of the witnesses. Another witness said they were boyfriend and girlfriend.
When O'Neal, 21, was told of the inquiry, he confronted Casey, and said Casey was "disrespecting him" and "hitting on his girlfriend.
Casey asked O'Neal what he was going to do about it, and walked outside with a closed pocket knife in his pocket.
O'Neal, with a gun in his possession, and a witness followed shortly thereafter.
Within five minutes, several gunshots were heard outside.
O'Neal was arrested Tuesday without incident. He is facing one count of First Degree Murder with a Firearm.
