A 30-year-old woman accused of scamming University of South Florida students out of cash was arrested Thursday just after campus police said she’d tricked another person.
Guecoba Latrice Dow of Tampa is accused of using fraudulent bank deposits to take money from at least three students, according to USF Police.
Dow was arrested after a USF officer stopped the white SUV she drove, which police said matched one described in recent fraud reports.
Dow had an outstanding arrest warrant and was taken into custody. According to police, she had a student in her SUV who’d withdrawn money from an ATM as part of Dow’s scam.
Police said Dow approached students asking to use their bank account to deposit a fraudulent check and withdraw the cash for her.
If you have information about Dow, please contact the USF Police Department at 813-974-2628.
