TEMPLE TERRACE, Fl - Temple Terrace Police are investigating an armed robbery that sent a Temple Terrace man to the hospital with a gunshot wound.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 7400 block of Terrace River Drive.
Police say a 28-year-old man was getting some things out of his car when he heard footsteps behind him. When he turned around, a male suspect pointed a small caliber gun at him and demanded valuables.
The victim ran to his front door, banged on it and screamed to family members to help, police say. That is when the suspect fired one shot, according to police, hitting the victim from behind.
The victim called 911 and was taken to Tampa General Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. He has since been released.
The suspect ran from the scene.
The suspect is described as a black male, 25-35 years old, between 5'10 and 6' tall and weighing between 160-180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt, black or blue pants, black shoes, and a small, thin-strapped backpack.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Detective Dave Kelley at 813.989.7110.
ABC Action News did stop by the victim's home. He declined comment and asked that his name not be published.
