BRANDON, Fla. - Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal accident involving a motorcycle around 3:15 a.m. Sunday morning.
According to FHP, Joel Cooper, 24, was riding his Yamaha motorcycle down Dale Mabry Highway at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop at a red light.
A Hyundai Sonata and Chevy Equinox were waiting for the light turn green at the intersection of Dale Mabry and Fletcher Avenue. When the light turned the two cars proceeded through the intersection. As the Sonata entered the intersection after the light turned, it collided with Cooper.
The impact tossed Cooper into a concrete wall and then a tree and caused the Sonata to hit the Equinox.
