Hillsborough County detectives are traveling to Louisiana in an attempt to interview a Valrico teenager who fled home with a sex offender accused of stabbing her 10 times.
Ashley Lyon, 16, has been recovering in a Lafayette, La., hospital since she was stabbed June 18 during a
Earlier this week her mother posted an
to Facebook that said Lyon was struggling to breathe on her own. She also had surgery for a blood clot in her leg this week.
Detectives do not plan to make public any information they may receive from Lyon.
Lyon disappeared from home June 11 with Steven Myers, 41, a registered sex offender, authorities said. A cashier recognized the pair at a Grosse Tete, La., truck stop and called authorities.
Myers led law enforcement on an intense 40-mile chase that ended when he exited his truck and stabbed himself.
Myers, who is being held in Louisiana, faces charges that include attempted murder.
While in Louisiana, detectives will serve an additional warrant for Myers charging him with five counts of using a cellphone to seduce and solicit a child for sex.
There is no date scheduled for Myers’ return to Hillsborough to face charges related to Lyon’s disappearance.
