Flood Warning issued October 1 at 10:09AM EDT expiring October 4 at 2:00AM EDT in effect for: Sarasota
Alcohol may have been a factor in a fatal boating crash on the Little Manatee river, Florida Fish and Wildlife officials said Friday.
The 20 foot boat was found upside down in the mangroves of the river just off College Ave., west of U.S. 41.
According to FWC officers, two men and a woman were on board the powerboat when it crashed, ejecting one of the men. The other two were not injured.
Sean McCarthy of Ruskin died in the crash.
There's no word yet on what caused the boat accident, but FWC officers are investigating and say alcohol may have been involved.
"We always recommend that people pay attention to their surroundings. One of the main causes of boating accidents is not paying attention to your surroundings...so we always recommend everybody pay attention to what's going on and make sure to have all the required safety equipment," said FWC officer Beryl Martin.
