Black Friday lines form early outside Tampa Best Buy

Other shoppers wonder why it's necessary

Tampa - Long before the big crowds come, six tents were outside the Best Buy on North Dale Mabry all weekend. Inside them are dedicated shoppers intent on getting a deal.

James and his friend Juan may have the best set up in town..

"We've got a lap top, 2 TV's we actually have a sound system, two beds, just no bathroom that's it," said James Todd.

Overnight, they try to get rest, but it's not always easy.

"We had a couple incidents with drive-by honking during sleep," said Todd.

Melissa Fitzwater and her family got here Friday..and no one else has come since.

"I just wish I would have known that, that way I could have come today instead of Friday because I don't like being here a long time either," said Fitzwater.

Many of these early birds make this a tradition, coming out here every year. Melissa says the door buster deals are worth it. "We are getting the laptop for $177, there's a couple of tablets on sale, there's an HD Kindle for $99."

Other shoppers coming to the store Monday morning couldn't get over the tent city and wondered why it's necessary.

"I think they are crazy. I don't know if they know this, but it's going to do down to the 40's," said Manny Martinez.

"I had a friend do this once before and I bought a laptop for a couple hundred bucks and it was probably the worst laptop I've ever bought," said shopper Eric Philyor.

While the black Friday sales start at Best Buy Thursday at 6 p.m., the chain is also saving some special deals for Friday, but they won't be announcing those until Thursday.
