TAMPA - UPDATE: Bear was tranquilized with a dart gun and fell from the tree into a cushioned tarp around 10:15 a.m. (see video)
He was taken away and plans are for him to be released back into the Ocala National Forest sometime soon.
PREVIOUS REPORT: A black bear, about 250 lbs, is in a tree at 2817 Broad St. W in the West Tampa area.
A man says he found the bear standing in his backyard about three feet from his dog. He came out, and saw that the dog spooked the bear.
The homeowner says the bear ran up the tree like a cat.
The bear does have a tag on its ear, which means it has been captured before.
Florida Fish and Wildlife believe it may be the same bear that made its way down from Ocala on a previous occasion.
