A man wanted for the murder of a Wharton High School student in 2007 has been arrested in Brooklyn, New York and brought back to Hillsborough County, according to a sheriff's statement.
Deputies say Rick Joseph, 28, opened fire on a group of young people outside an apartment complex, killing 17-year-old Marcus Johnson.
After the shooting, Joseph disappeared without a trace.
Through fingerprints, social media and other database evidence, investigators ultimately determined that Joseph was living somewhere in a six block area in New York.
The U.S. Marshals Service was notified and the area was put under surveillance. Joseph, who was using the name Thomas Brown, was arrested within a week.
He is charged with second-degree murder.
