Armed robbery leads to police chase through Tampa

TAMPA BAY - Tampa P olice have a suspect in custody in connection with two armed robberies.  

Authorities say 27 year-old Darron Hannah was busy late J uly 4, and into the early morning hours Friday, committing armed robberies in Tampa.

One occurred in Ybor City, and another near the South Bay Apartments. 

In both cases, ABC Action News learned that he threatened individual victims with a handgun.

Shortly after reports of the second armed robbery, officers spotted him fleeing the scene in a Ford van near Himes Avenue and Gandy Boulevard.

Officers attempted to stop the van, but Hannah fled and a pursuit ensued.

The pursuit ended on I-275 near North Boulevard Homes, when Hannah abandoned the van and tried to flee on foot. He was quickly apprehended.

Hannah's van appears to be stolen at this time as well.

No injuries or crashes resulted and some of the money stolen from the victims was recovered.

The investigation is still ongoing.
