3-year-old who suffered sexual battery and internal injuries dies, suspect IDed as Elisamuel Pacheco

Suspect was watching victim while mother worked

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY - A 24-year-old Hillsborough County man is behind bars after a 3-year-old girl he sexually battered ended up dying, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Officials say the 3-year-old victim had been vomiting and experiencing lethargy Thursday. She had been in the care of Elisamuel Pacheco that day, and previously throughout the week. The victim, along with her 9-month-old twin brothers would get watched by Pacheco while their mother was at work.

The victim's mother and Elisamauel said the 3-year-old had been sick all week and they thought it was a virus. But Between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday, the little girl was found unresponsive by family members inside the home.

The child was taken to Florida Hospital by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue after 911 was called.

At 7:51 p.m., she was pronounced dead.

A medical examination determined the victim had signs of sexual battery and internal injuries.

The death is ruled homicide, beaten by persons.

At 6 p.m. Friday, Pacheco was taken into custody and charged with one count of First Degree Murder, one count of Sexual Battery and one count of Aggravated Child Abuse.
