BRANDON, Fla. - Hillsborough County deputies responded Friday night to a possible kidnapping at an apartment complex on Windermere Lake Drive.
A woman told deputies she was in the shower at her home on Windermere Lake Dr. when she heard a window break. She got out of the shower and saw a man holding her five-year-old, deputies said.
Franyeli Martinez-Rodriquez, 23, found a 15-year-old upstairs gripping her child. She was able to free her child from the teen's embrace after a brief struggle.
Once freeing her child, Rodriguez screamed and pushed the suspect, who went back out the window, according to Cristal Bermudez-Nunez, Hillsborough County Public Information Officer.
The teen ran from the scene. Deputies conducted a search for the suspect, but couldn't find him.
He later returned to the scene where deputies arrested him.
The 15-year-old was on felony probation and had a curfew.
He is charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling, attempted kidnapping and violation of probation.
