Pasco County offers free cancer screenings for low income, uninsured residents

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - Pasco County residents who are low income and uninsured may qualify for free breast and cervical cancer screening programs.   

The Pasco County Health Department is offering the screening for women between the ages of 50 and 64.  They also offer no cost screening mammograms for women ages 40-49  through funds by the Florida Suncoast Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

"Survival rates for breast cancer have improved greatly, but early detection is the best defense and regular screenings are critical to maintaining good health." said County Health Officer, David Johnson M.D., M.S, M.H.A. "This program provides a valuable service to many residents in need".

The program is available at any of the five health department sites in the county.
