AVON PARK, Fla. - A teen hit by a train in Avon Park has been rushed to the hospital.
According to the Highlands County Sheriff's office, a 13-year-old boy was struck this afternoon near North Central and Main Street.
The teen was transported by helicopter to an area hospital in critical condition.
A sheriff's department spokesperson told ABC Action News the teen has a broken pelvis.
The spokesperson also said it appeared the teen was running across the tracks to beat the train, but didn't make it.
