Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is asking for the public's help in finding a driver involved in dangerous vehicle altercation with an officer on Tuesday.

According to FWC, Officer Reece Alvis was involved in an attempted traffic stop that resulted in aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

It happened around 12:00 p.m. at the intersection of 66th Street North and 54th Avenue North, outside a Walgreens parking lot.

Officer Alvis was conducting traffic control when an erratic, speeding driver swerved toward the off-duty officer.

The vehicle is reportedly a 2012/2013 white Honda Accord EXL.

The driver sped away into a nearby neighborhood where responding units tracked him down.

In an attempt to get away, witnesses saw the driver make a high-speed turn, tearing up a neighbor's lawn.

"He was flying," said Pat Ciatto. "Thank God the school kids were in because they all walk out here in the middle of the street. Thank God elementary is over with."

The driver then smashed into Alvis' truck, causing extensive damage to the front of the car.

He took off, parts everywhere, parts up there in the grass," said Ciatto. "He made a mess."

Surveillance pictures show that the Honda's front bumper was knocked off after the collision.

A description of the driver or the vehicle's tag number are not available at this time.

The public is urged not to approach the vehicle and to report sightings to the FWC immediately at 888-404-3922.
