WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. - A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death in Pasco County on Friday, according to authorities. An 18-year-old is under arrest.
The victim is identified as Tuvarrion Sirmons, a student at Zephyrhills High School. Cleave Gittens is accused of killing him.
Glittens made a first appearance Saturday morning and received 100,00 bond.
According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, the two teens had gotten into an argument Friday afternoon at Gittens home. Sirmons, and a few other people, decided to leave and headed to the Meadow Pointe II clubhouse, about three blocks away.
A short time later, Gittens showed up at the clubhouse and another argument ensued. According to the sheriff's office, Gittens stabbed Sirmons. The victim was transported to Florida Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.
"When it comes out that a 16-year-old was stabbed, it kind of makes you pause and say what is going on," said Sheriff Chris Nocco in a news conference Friday evening.
Authorities say Gittens is a known criminal in Pasco County with prior arrests for burglary, drugs, possession of a firearm, and disorderly conduct.
"He's been arrested numerous times. He's spent 9 months in our county jail," Nocco said. "He was that person on the block that everybody had a problem with."
Neighbors, like Norma Robles, were overcome with emotion when they heard the news.
"Both families are hurting right now, not just one, but both families," Robles said.
Grief counselors will be at Zephyrhills High School on Monday.
