Tiger Woods has returned home following a one-car accident near his Windemere home early Friday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Woods was driving his 2009 Cadillac SUV when hit a fire hydrant and then slammed into a tree on Deacon Circle at 2:25AM.

According to Windemere police chief Daniel Saylor, Woods was found laying in the street with his wife, Elin, hovering over him.

She told officers she was in the house when she heard the accident,  Elin then told police she used a golf club to smash out the back window of his SUV to help Tiger out of the vehicle.

Woods had lacerations to his upper and lower lips, and he had blood in his mouth.  Saylor said when the officers arrived, Woods was unconscious, woke up, and tried to get up, but lost consciousness.

The Florida Highway Patrol says alcohol was not involved, although the accident remains under investigation.  Charges are pending.

What's also bizarre is that the traffic report was not released until 12 hours after Woods was injured.  Windemere police said his accident did not meet the criteria of a serious crash, and no press released was issued until inquiries were made by local media.

Stay tuned on this one.  How Woods mouth and lips were bloodied up, and where he was going at 2:25am in the morning are two questions police will be asking when their investigation continues.

Windemere police say there was no evidence of a domestic dispute.
