INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, FL -- Authorities say speed was a factor in the crash that killed a motorcyclist from Brandon Saturday evening.

Travis Fales of East Clay Avenue was traveling at a high rate of speed according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office's traffic investigation team when he lost control of the cycle on the Indian Rocks Beach Bridge.

Investigators say Fales was heading in the eastbound median lane at a high rate of speed when he lost control and slid the cycle into the concrete rail.  He was tossed from the cycle and died at the scene.

Fales was not wearing a helmet.

The bridge was closed for almost four hours during the traffic investigation.
