Man killed in fatal accident near Oldsmar railroad tracks

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL -- A Brandon man was killed after crashing his car near railroad tracks in Oldsmar Friday morning.

The single car accident happened before 10:00 am at Tampa Rd and State Road 580.

According to the Pinellas Sheriff's Office, 50-year-old Louis Diaz was headed west on Tampa Road when his car left the road and veered onto a curb. The car then turned on its side, striking a railroad crossing signal pole.

Diaz died at the scene.

Deputies say Diaz worked for SDI Diagnostic Clinic transporting radiology and imaging materials.

Deputies diverted traffic on Tampa Road while they investigated. Trains service along those tracks was interrupted for several hours.
