Man botches drive-by shooting

Last Update: 11/06 12:25 pm
APPELTON, WI -- A man is facing charges after forgetting to roll down his car window during a drive-by shooting at his ex-girlfriend's house.

According to the Appleton Post-Crescent, Anderew Burwitz's girlfriend was away at school when her family was awakened by the sound of breaking glass early Monday morning.

Authorities say they were led to Burwitz's home because of the broken glass from his car window.  An auto glass repair shop told police they replaced the broken window.

When police went to Burwitz's home on Wednesday, he admitted to the shooting at the house and told police he had been drinking heavily.  Police say Burwitz, 20, had shot the gun at another house that same night.

Police charged Burwitz with four counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, four-counts of endangering safety by reckless use of a firearm, disorderly conduct and criminal property damage.
