How to Stay Heart Healthy

MORE HEALTH, Inc. celebrates a 25 year partnership with Tampa General Hospital and American Heart Month by hosting the Florida College Academy students for “Are you Heart Smart?” Day at Tampa General Hospital on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Since 1989, MORE HEALTH has taught over 3.5 million students health and safety lessons across Tampa Bay.
The Junior League of Tampa will recognize Tampa General Hospital for becoming MORE HEALTH’s founding partner in 1992 and for continuing its support for 25 years. MORE HEALTH was originally a volunteer project of The Junior League of Tampa, started by League member Nancy Crane in 1989. As The Junior League of Tampa celebrates its 90th anniversary this year, MORE HEALTH is recognized as one of its nine Anniversary Legacy Service Projects.
Florida College Academy students will learn how to be heart healthy by participating in the MORE HEALTH “Walk-Through Heart” Lesson. A giant walk-through heart helps students understand the route blood travels to the heart, lungs, and body. They will visit the OneBlood, Blood Bank to learn more about the importance of the circulatory system and blood donation. Students will also participate in a hands-on activity provided by The Junior League of Tampa’s Kids in the Kitchen community project.
