When a mover breaks your things, they have to pay a claim, but it likely won't cover your damages

Accidents happen, but one consumer says she spent close to six months going back and forth with a mover after she claims the company's employees scuffed up her furniture.

Like so many of us, Ruby Fosteris works hard for what she owns.  The consumer found multiple scratches on half a dozen dining chairs and her coffee table.

Fosteris filed a claim with apartment movers back in April, but she claims more than 5 months went by and apartment movers never paid her claim.

When I called Apartment Movers, their Tampa office explained they had mailed out a check in August.  A check Fosteris says she never received.

Days after that call, the company sent a check for $45.  It won't cover the damages.  Per state law, movers only have to pay 60 cents per pound of problem.

If you, or anyone you know is dealing with a similar issue, you can file a complaint with the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services at 800helpfla.com .
