Hidden cameras test Bay Area's politeness

The Tampa Bay area has long been known for its hospitality and laid back way of life.

Transplants from other parts of the country even remark how “nice” we are. But how nice are we when we think nobody is watching?

A more interesting question: Which city is nicer, Tampa or St. Petersburg?

With our undercover cameras, we set out to see how polite we are on both sides of the bay.

We went to Downtown Tampa and Downtown St. Petersburg during the height of the mid-week lunch rush. Using three tests, we chose five people at random for each to see how they’d react. The results surprised us.
