It's National Dental Health Month for both adults and children. Parents know that getting kids to brush their teeth is never an easy task. Luckily, technology has come a long way and there are apps and games to get kids excited about keeping cavities away. Dr. Sean Gassett from Apollo Beach Dental Excellence says he gives out special cavity fighting lollipops from CariFree which contain xylitol, a natural sweetener that can help prevent cavities.
There are also new toothbrushes out there that incorporate music into tooth brushing by playing music for the amount of time kids should be brushing.
Dr. Gassett says he directs his patients to an iPad app called "Chomper Chum," which teaches proper brushing, flossing and rinsing technique which makes a game out of brushing.
There is also a game on Nick.com called
Spongebob Cavity Crisis where you have to clean Spongebob's teeth before cavities cause a tooth to fall out.
Keeping on top of the cleanings and dental appointments could be costly, especially if you have no insurance. So parents looking for help can head to
