Left homeless thanks to a bad contractor, woman gets a helping hand from strangers

Angie's List members step up to help

RIVERVIEW, Fla. - Four years ago, Danise Hegerty's home was uninhabitable.  The electric and plumbing systems were left in shambles by a remodeler who never finished what he started.

Our taking action story led to the partial completion and the suspension of the builder's license, but Hegerty's home still needed work.

Then Angie's List Wish Makers heard about the homeowner and her ordeal.

Kitchen Craft LLC owner Sergio Milosavljevic volunteered to redo the kitchen with new granite, a double sink and quality cabinetry.  Riverview Plumbing and Exceptional Granite also pitched in on the kitchen, and All Pro Plumbing replaced the septic system.

Hegerty never imagined her hard-luck story would generate this much generosity.

She described it as overwhelming to watch complete strangers give so much of their time to someone they had never met.
