Karen Morris paid a handy man hundreds of dollars to fix up her bathroom. He was supposed to replace the flooring and vanity.
Morris and her 81-year-old disabled mother say he tore out the toilet, sink and tile, but never returned.
Aside from the bathroom, we found the hallway floor rotted through. Morris, who cares for her mom full time, says there is no more money for repairs.
We visited Morris’s home, then asked Ernest Gilbert of DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen to take a look. After inspecting and surveying all that needed to be done,DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen offered to repair and restore Morris’s bathroom along with her dangerous floor.
Morris’s tears of frustration turned to tears of joy. It was the first time in months she or her mother felt any hope that their home could be fixed.
Gator Plumbing also stepped in and offered to take care of the plumbing work. The project is underway and will be complete next month.
As for the handy man, we've reported him to Bradenton police and they are investigating the case as unlicensed contracting.
