Certain supermarkets leave a bad taste in our mouths while others make our cart strolls down the shopping aisles almost magical---now Consumer Reports has quantified these feelings into a survey identifying the best and worst grocery stores.
The survey polled 24,403 people about supermarkets and while Wegmans, a grocer based in the Northeast, was rated as the best, the Lakeland based grocer Publix scored fairly high in third place, right after Trader Joe's, MSNBC reports. Among the absolute worst markets were Pathmark and Wal-Mart.
The top stores got high ratings based on their service and cleanliness. However, shoppers still complained that even the best stores fall short on having enough checkout lanes.
The best grocery stores were:
- Trader Joe's
- Fareway Stores
The worst stores were:
- Wal-mart Supercenter
Other complaints included poor customer service, rising prices, cluttered aisles, poor bagging and advertised specials not being stocked.
