You usually crumple them up and toss them in the trash but your sales receipts are actually cash that you are throwing away.

If you aren't using the Walmart's Savings Catcher App, Kyle James from Rather-Be-Shopping.com says you are throwing away free money.

"My wife and I on a $100 Walmart receipt will typically make $4 to $5 back on that receipt," says the money saving blogger.

All you have to do is download the app, take a photo of your receipt and if any item on your receipt can be found cheaper anywhere else Walmart will give you back the difference in a Walmart gift card.

You can also take that same receipt or use any other receipt and download the Ibotta app. It also gives you cash back for something most people otherwise throw away.

"Come home, scan that receipt into Ibotta and it automatically gives you a rebate back on those items," says James.

With Ibotta you find the store you just shopped at such as Publix. Then tap on the everyday necessities you just bought, take a picture of your receipt and watch that receipt turn into cash. James says he likes the payout.

"They'll either send it to you through Paypal or they'll give you a gift card choice like Amazon, Starbucks, iTunes," says James.

Want to make even more money back? You can double dip with that same receipt by taking another picture of it with the Yaarlo app or Receipt Hog

"It can add up to 20,30,40 bucks a month just by scanning your receipts."
