Cooking apps get festive for the holiday

Looking for a little help in the kitchen this holiday season?  Your personal cooking assistant may be just a few taps away.

Smartphone apps like Epicurious for iOS help keep recipes handy, and offer support for downloading recipes from an online collection.  The app is free, but it will cost you $1.99 to sync the recipe box from your account on Epicurious.com.  Wired.com says developers have put festive recipes on the app's home page, such as Turkey and Gravy, Thanksgiving Sides, and Fall Desserts.

If you're using an Android device, Cooking Conversions takes the guesswork out of measuring ingredients with unit and serving conversions for volume, weight and temperature.  It also offers a list of "substitutes" for ingredients you may not have on hand.  Cooking Conversions is also free from the Android Market.
