TAMPA - Within the next few weeks college freshman will be packing up and heading off to college for the first time.
DR. Stacey Scheckner, Clinical Psychologist, joined us in studio to give some helpful tips for helping parents and students deal with the new changes in their lives.
1-you will act more as a coach, less as a parent
2-don't solve their problems, encourage the use of campus support resources
3-talk about expectations regarding alcohol, time management, and budgeting
4-focus discussions on course content and not grades
5-let them say when, how, and how long communication occurs between you both
